If you’re after a romantic break a deux, you’re in the right place! With pretty Westcountry towns, stunning rolling countryside and dreamy windswept beaches near to Honicombe, there is plenty of scope to create your own love filled getaway.  Whether it’s a night out enjoying good food and soaking up some city culture in Plymouth or something more active to get the hearts racing, here are some of our favourite things for couples to do nearby.

Cothele National Trust

With centuries of medieval history to soak up, a working mill and its very own historic quay, Cothele is one of the most fascinating National Trust sites.  Explore the woodlands and nature trails of the 1,300 acre estate taking in the industrial ruins and spectacular riverside views.

Looe Valley Line

Starting in the historic market town of Liskeard, the Looe Valley Line takes you on an undeniably romantic journey through the wooded valleys and beautiful banks of the river Looe.  Passing through some of Englands most remote stations, the journey ends at the picturesque Looe full of stunning coves and little eateries to enjoy.

Adrenalin Quarry

For those couples craving a bit of a thrill, this former quarry is a paradise for adrenaline junkies. Take on the giant inflatable wipeout course in the lake, lose your breath on the double ziplines or leave your belly right at the top of the gravity park.  Of course you can just head on in for a lakeside picnic…

An Evening at The Barbican

Plymouth’s historic Barbican Waterfront is the perfect place to enjoy a grown up evening for two.  Choose from the many great bars and eateries and relax the night away soaking up the sights and sounds of the waterside.  Or why not indulge in a tour of the famous home of Plymouth Gin – with tasters of course.

Whitsand Bay

With over 3 miles of glorious sandy beach to sink your toes into, Whistand Bay is one of Cornwall’s hidden gems.  Pull on your walking boots and explore the rugged Rame Peninsula or spend a more low key day splashing in the waves and lazing on the sand.  Home to the famous HMS Scylla, a naval ship scuttled in 2004, there is some excellent SCUBA diving to be found here for the more adventurous.
