Take a Ride on the Tamar Valley Line

Taking the train is one of the best ways to take in the dramatic sights and scenery of the Tamar Valley Nature Reserve.  Hop aboard in Gunnislake and enjoy a leisurely ride through the most spectacular landscape.  Don’t forget to hold your breath as the train crosses the 120m high Calstock Viaduct which links Devon and Cornwall.

Dartmoor

Dartmoor is one of our favourite grown up playgrounds just a quarter of an hour from Honicombe.  Whether you’re after a gentle ramble, challenging hike, wild swim or dare devil mountain bike trail, Dartmoor has it all. Find a remote moorland pub to round off your day of adventure and exploration with a local beer, a good feed and lots of stories, myths and legends about Devon’s famous granite wilderness.

Bodmin Moor

The wild and rugged vastness of Bodmin Moor is a great place to lose yourself for a day. Clamber up dramatic granite tors, tackle countless walking trails across the bleak and romantic landscape or hunt down Poldark’s cottage deep in the moor.  Take a flask and some snacks and really explore the hours away.
